Vancouver - Canada nearly finished

22601 km, Vancouver (British Columbia)

It's quiet a long time ago, since i wrote the last news, and a lot happened since Smithers! With mostly very good weather we cycled along Highway 16 to Prince George. Coming from the north, this is the first place where "remoteness" ended - quite a lot of traffic and villages. What a pity! As the date of the visit of my parents had been fixed, we had some extra time. So we slowed down and took some detours, cycled logging roads, and then to Green Lake, where Bine and me celebrated my 37th birthday - perfect clear and warm night, fire and beer! Behind Clinton it was mountainous again. Cycling the Kelly Lake Road and the Duffy Lake Road has been great! Mostly very good weather, great sceneries and vistas! Via Whistler (Olympic Wintergames 2010!) to Squamish, awful weather. Afterwards great again, and the coast heading south was great. And then we finally reached Vancouver. A big leg is finished now. After about 5.400 kilometers and 45.000 meters of cycled altitude since Anchorage in Alaska. And the most beautiful entering of a big city i ever had. And Vancouver itself is beautiful, a town where i can imagine to live! On the same day we went to the airport. What a nice welcome after 19 months! With a rented Motor Home (10 meter in length!) we hit the roads north of Vancouver and on Vancouver Island. We saw a black bear, amazing mountains sceneries, rain forests with giant trees and the wild pacific. The evenings inside the Motor Home haven been very, very nice! After 3 more days of sightseeing in Vancouver it is now time again to say goodbye. My parents are heading home to Vienna, Bine and me are cycling south - to the "Lower 48" which are not far away anymore.
